A Note from Michael Bodine:
Now that the Spring Season is upon us, we will convene in full orchestra mode beginning Tuesday, Jan 10th from 5:30 to 7 PM in the Leesville Junior High Band Hall. I am excited about the season, and I hope you are as well. Invite your friends and family who may have not been participating in the past for whatever reason. The more, the merrier! See you soon. A strings concert at Leesville Library capped off the 2011 Winter Season for Vernon Parish Community Orchestra. Solo performances by violinists Moriah Michler and Shania Freyholtz and a trumpet solo by Maria Hudson were among highlights of the concert. Music ranged from Hayden to mariachi, and the audience participated with a Christmas carol sing-along.
Vernon Parish Community Orchestra ended the Spring Season with a successful full-orchestra concert in Leesville High School Auditorium on Sunday, May 22, 2011.
String ensembles continued activity through summer and fall, including the Watermelon Festival in DeRidder on June 25. a summer concert at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Jasper on Sunday, June 26, “Celebration of Hymns” at St. Michael’s on Sunday, October 9 and at Holly Grove Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 22.
Further Fall and Winter string concerts included “Relax and Imagine” at St. Michael’s on December 11, Christmas music at First United Methodist Church in Merryville on December 12, and the final 2011 concert at Leesville Library on December 16.
